I'm late posting this, but we have been a bit busy around here! My due date was January 27th and c-section was scheduled for Friday, January 20th, which also happened to be Inauguration Day. On Monday, January 16th, I woke up having contractions. I decided there was no reason to call the doctor because I knew it was possible for me to have contractions for a day or more before I really needed to go to the hospital. I had planned to run several errands to wrap up my preparations for Henry's arrival after Crista got here to take Miles. I told Ben to go on to work and I would call him later if things got worse. I went to the Container Store to grab Henry a laundry hamper for his room, Hanna Andersson to exchange a pair of jeans for Miles, and B. Braithwaite to grab Miles a big brother shirt. At some point I started timing the contractions and realized they were getting closer together. Once I reached 12 minutes or so I knew I needed to call my doctor. It was MLK day and Dr. Cook was out of town, so I was putting things off in hopes my doctor getting in later that night. I stopped by Chick-fil-A on the way home and grabbed some lunch because I knew it would be awhile before I could eat again. After I got home and ate my lunch, I called the on-call doctor, which was Dr. Suarez. He assisted Dr Cook with my c-section when I had Miles. He told me to come on in and they would check things out. I texted Ben and had him come home from work and we went to the hospital. Once we arrived, they took me straight to a room and began monitoring me. Dr Suarez later came in to let me know I was definitely in labor and they would do the c-section in 15 minutes! They ended up taking me back to the operating room, but once there, another mom needed an emergency c-section, so they sent me back to my room to wait until she was done. Thankfully I didn't have to wait too long as my contractions were increasing in frequency and intensity.
Here's Ben getting ready to go back with me! He didn't get to go with me last time when Miles was born because of the HELLP syndrome and general anesthesia.
We are both ready!
He's here!
This is Ben's favorite picture. Taken by Ben inside the operating room.
Henry's stats.
Weight: 7 lbs, 14 oz
Height: 20.5 inches
Ben and Miles changing Henry's diaper together.
Sweet Henry wearing my favorite little gown which has a bear sitting on the moon embroidered on the chest.
This is how we slept in the hospital. Henry preferred to sleep on me rather than his little box.
I took this picture in the recovery room immediately after surgery, so it's a bit off center.
Miles meeting Henry for the first time! He's a very excited big brother.
After 3 nights we were discharged! Here's Henry heading home in his carseat.
We are so glad Henry is ours!
