Henry is Here!

I'm late posting this, but we have been a bit busy around here! My due date was January 27th and c-section was scheduled for Friday, January 20th, which also happened to be Inauguration Day. On Monday, January 16th, I woke up having contractions. I decided there was no reason to call the doctor because I knew it was possible for me to have contractions for a day or more before I really needed to go to the hospital. I had planned to run several errands to wrap up my preparations for Henry's arrival after Crista got here to take Miles. I told Ben to go on to work and I would call him later if things got worse. I went to the Container Store to grab Henry a laundry hamper for his room, Hanna Andersson to exchange a pair of jeans for Miles, and B. Braithwaite to grab Miles a big brother shirt. At some point I started timing the contractions and realized they were getting closer together. Once I reached 12 minutes or so I knew I needed to call my doctor. It was MLK day and Dr. Cook was out of town, so I was putting things off in hopes my doctor getting in later that night. I stopped by Chick-fil-A on the way home and grabbed some lunch because I knew it would be awhile before I could eat again. After I got home and ate my lunch, I called the on-call doctor, which was Dr. Suarez. He assisted Dr Cook with my c-section when I had Miles. He told me to come on in and they would check things out. I texted Ben and had him come home from work and we went to the hospital. Once we arrived, they took me straight to a room and began monitoring me. Dr Suarez later came in to let me know I was definitely in labor and they would do the c-section in 15 minutes! They ended up taking me back to the operating room, but once there, another mom needed an emergency c-section, so they sent me back to my room to wait until she was done. Thankfully I didn't have to wait too long as my contractions were increasing in frequency and intensity.

Here's Ben getting ready to go back with me! He didn't get to go with me last time when Miles was born because of the HELLP syndrome and general anesthesia.

We are both ready!

He's here!

This is Ben's favorite picture. Taken by Ben inside the operating room.

Henry's stats.
Weight: 7 lbs, 14 oz
Height: 20.5 inches

Ben and Miles changing Henry's diaper together.

Sweet Henry wearing my favorite little gown which has a bear sitting on the moon embroidered on the chest.

This is how we slept in the hospital. Henry preferred to sleep on me rather than his little box.

I took this picture in the recovery room immediately after surgery, so it's a bit off center.

Miles meeting Henry for the first time! He's a very excited big brother.

After 3 nights we were discharged! Here's Henry heading home in his carseat.

We are so glad Henry is ours!

Beach Trip! And I turned 30..

We took our summer vacation to Seaside the week of/after Labor Day. Miles loved the beach, but really loved playing at the pool this year. We spent the first half of each day at the beach, came in for lunch and nap, and then spent the afternoons at the pool. Thankfully our house was across the street from the pool and a block from the beach.

My 30th birthday was on Labor Day. It turned out to be the prettiest day of the week!

Miles loved "jumping waves" with Ben and every time we asked him about the water, he told us it was "gorgeous!"

We went to George's for my birthday dinner in Alys Beach and Miles was generally well behaved. The kid next to us had an iPad the entire time, so Miles kept telling us he wanted to see it, but we don't allow phones/ipads while eating.

Miles did a lot of digging in the sand with his shovel.

It's not always easy to get him to take a picture!

Crazy kid! These pictures totally capture his silly personality.

It was overcast several days and Miles wanted to take his shirt off, but he didn't get burned. I consider that a success.

Miles dancing on the stage in the amphitheater. Kid loves to dance right now.

And this is how he poses for pictures now...

We had a great time thankfully the only major rain was on the day we left. We enjoyed lots of good food and a little bit of rest. Ready to go back!

Santa and Pink Pig

We took Miles to visit Santa early in December at Phipps. Last year he was indifferent about Santa. This year was a different story! He was definitely a little freaked out. Ha! Poor kid.

Waiting for our turn with Santa.

Phipps is so pretty at Christmastime.

Just for fun, this is Ben's second visit with Santa in 1981. Ben seems to be less stressed about Santa!

We went to ride the Pink Pig the weekend before Christmas. You'd think since we live nearby I would have taken Miles at a down time, but I didn't. We waited in line for an hour or so. Miles was losing his mind toward the end of the wait, but he seemed to enjoy the ride.
