Weekend

We had a busy weekend!

On Friday, Miles and I met Hillary for lunch. First we went to see Hillary's new apartment and Auntie Hannah surprised us when she opened the door! Hannah was excited to see Miles and hold him, but she didn't want anything to do with the diaper changing . In fact, she turned the other direction so she didn't have to look while I changed his diaper. Ha! Then we all went to Newk's for lunch.

Friday evening Gram came over for her birthday! We had dinner at Yeah Burger and then came back to our house for cake and presents. We even ate at our new table for the first time!

Miles didn't get to eat cake, but he did sit in his fancy high chair for the first time! Thanks Cindy!

Miles got a bath on Friday night and he looked too cute in his duckie towel. He has the cutest cheeks!

Saturday night, Ben and I went out to South City Kitchen for dinner to celebrate our 6th anniversary. We enjoyed having a little time to ourselves, but pretty much talked about Miles the whole time.

Miles stayed with Grandma and Grandpa while we went out to eat.

Sunday morning we went out for brunch at Lure. Miles is such a good going out baby! He sat in his seat and stared at me for awhile and then went to sleep. He's a sweet little sleeper!

Miles is 2 months old!

Miles! You are two months old today!
You are the BEST baby. You are so sweet and lovable.

You started sleeping through the night about a week ago and now you sleep for about 8 hours before you wake up.

You started smiling this month, too, but it is really hard to get a picture of you smiling! Once we bring the camera out, you look at it instead.

You have a really good pouty lip!

You are getting better control of your head, but you definitely do not like tummy time. You get fussy when we put you on your belly.

You had your two month well-baby visit today with Dr. Roe.
Weight: 13 lbs, 5.6 ounces; 75th percentile
Height: 24 inches; 90th percentile
Head Circumference: 15 3/4 inches; 75th percentile
You are still wearing a size 1 diaper, but we will finish the rest of those up tomorrow and start with size  2 diapers. You are growing so quickly!
You were not happy about your shots today, but after you calmed back down, you didn't have any trouble the rest of the day. You also got to meet nurse Nancy today, which was your mama's nurse at Piedmont Pediatrics.

This is a picture of you with your cousin Mattie. She loves you a lot and always says "Aww, he's so cute!" It looks like you love her, too!

I left you this month for the first time and your Gram watched you while I took Eleanor to the vet. You were a good boy while I was gone!

Eleanor loves you and likes to protect you. This isn't a great picture, but she moves fast! Eleanor has now eaten 3 pacifiers, two of those in the same day.

You take naps in your crib and can fall asleep on your own! Sometimes I still rock you, though, just because I like to. You take one long nap in your crib and several shorter naps during the day.

You have outgrown most of your 0-3 month clothes and are mostly wearing size 3-6 months.

We love you so much and are blessed to be your parents!

Miles is one month old!

Miles, you are one month old! At your one month appointment, you weighed 10 pounds, 1 ounce and you are now 21 inches long. You wear size 1 diapers and still wear 0-3 month size clothes.

We started giving you a pacifier this week and you like it most of the time, but you also spit it out a lot. Eleanor is very interested in the pacifier. She spends lots of time plotting how to steal it!

We also started giving you one bottle a day as your last feeding. You usually eat every 2.5 hours, but will go for 3 hours once a day. If you wait too long, you get very grumpy!

You are a pretty good car rider, but you like to be on the move. You get a little angry when we get stuck in traffic.

You like to sleep in the snugamonkey. We still swaddle you at night, but during the day, you like to sleep with your arms and hands up by your face, just like you did during most of the ultrasounds we had. We feed you around 10:00 and you usually wake up again around 2-3 and then 7-8.

Today I brought you out on the porch while I took the dogs out! You are sweet boy!

It's a boy!

We were scheduled to find out the gender at the 20 week appointment since I did not have an ultrasound at 16 weeks. Ben and I were fine with that, although it would have been nice to find out earlier. We had 2 different friends mention to us that they had paid for an ultrasound earlier just to find out the gender, but we had written it off, assuming it would be expensive. The Thursday before Christmas, I decided just to look it up. I found a place in Buckhead called StorkVision that would do a 5 minute gender ultrasound for $39. Ben and I decided that would be worth it! Friday we were able to get an appointment for Saturday morning. Saturday we went to the appointment. We were in and out in 10 minutes and got some good pictures of the baby (boy)! Ben and I decided to keep the news to ourselves and surprise everyone for Christmas.

16 Weeks

post signatureMy 16 week appointment was on December 18th, one week before Christmas. No ultrasound this time, just bloodwork to check for Spina bifida. Thankfully, the results were negative! My next appointment is scheduled for January 15 with the high risk doctor to determine what should be done about the cyst I have on my ovary.

12 weeks!

We had our 12 week appointment on November 20th, the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. We decided before we went to the appointment that if everything appeared ok, then we could start sharing our news with everyone!

Ben went with me to the appointment and we had the ultrasound first. This ultrasound is when they do the Nuchal Translucency Screening to assess the risk for Down syndrome or other chromosomal abnormalaties based on fluid on the back of the neck and development of the nasal bone. The ultrasound lady said the baby had a really good nasal bone. Hmm...wonder where that comes from?! Everything checked out ok and the next appointment at 16 weeks is scheduled for December 18th.

After the appointment we met Mawmaw and Jim at Cheesecake Factory to celebrate Thanksgiving since Mawmaw was going out of town. We also got to show her the newest ultrasound pictures. While we were at dinner she called Gordy, Sandra and Stacey to share the news. I made her promise not to tell until then, so she didn't waste any time once I said it was ok to tell!

For Thanksgiving we went to Guy and Lynn's house to join them and Uncle Al for Thanksgiving dinner. We showed them the ultrasound pictured and Guy said he thought it was a boy based on the nose. Again...wonder where that came from?!

Here are some 12 week pictures!
