Miles is 8 months old!

Miles, you have turned into a wild and crazy man this month!

You don't have time to sit still and play anymore. You are always on the go and grabbing for things to chew on, bang on the floor or wall, and grab as hard as you can.

We have been to the pediatrician a couple of times this month thanks to a crazy diaper rash and a nasty cold you've had almost the entire month, but they haven't weighed you on any of the trips, so I don't have any stats. My guess is that you are around 22-23 pounds. A big boy!

We had a few rough sleeping nights, so we started a sleep training method called the Ferber method and you have been sleeping much better at night. You haven't been a great napper, but we are working on that. We got rid of the pacifier this month, too!

We are back in the cloth diapers full time now, thankfully! I think I figured out what I was doing wrong and the rash is gone.

You are loving the weenie dogs right now. When we come in the door, you always look for the weenies first. You love to watch them and reach for them. They are somewhat tolerant, but once you grab their fur, they will either give a warning growl or leave.

I think the weenies are the best source of entertainment for you! Cleo said "oh no!"

We have a lot of pictures this month because you are so cute! We had trouble narrowing down the pictures.

We had to sit you on the floor to take your pictures because you kept trying to roll out of the chair!

You got your first two teeth this month, too! The first one showed up on a Monday and the second bottom tooth came on a Thursday. You can see them in this picture.

You had some crazy hair when we took the pictures thanks to sleeping on wet hair and some static.

You eat more foods now, but your favorite are prunes! Gross. You eat sweet potatoes, bananas, avocado, pears, baby oatmeal, green beans, carrots, prunes, squash, and yogurt.

You seem to enjoy spitting food out everywhere when you are tired of something. I enjoy it less than you do.

You love bath time. You especially love splashing water everywhere.

We went to dinner with Katherine, Will, Mattie and Lily. It won't be long before you are running around with Lily!

We visited Mawmaw a couple of times this month. You love mawmaw and laugh a lot when she talks to you.

I think next month I may be telling everyone you are crawling! You get up on your hands and knees and rock back and forth, but you don't actually go anywhere yet. You usually get frustrated and start rolling to where you want to go.

It snowed yesterday, so we took you out for a few minutes. Your first snow! You just checked everything out until we brought you back in.

You have spent a lot of time with grandma and grandpa this month because nanny peggie went out of town for a few days and we had to go to a party. You don't cry as much around grandpa anymore and you especially love trying to rip out his beard. You also love to chew on and look at iPhones.

This is a video of you trying to play with the weenie dogs.

Miles, you are growing so quickly! We love you so much! You are everything we prayed for and we are so blessed to be your parents. You bring so much joy to our lives!

Miles' First Christmas

Miles had a great first Christmas! A busy Christmas, but it was fun!

Miles tried to open his presents, but he mainly enjoyed trying to eat the wrapping paper.

On Christmas Eve morning we went to ride the Pink Pig. My plan was to get there when they opened so we would avoid the lines, but of course we didn't quite make it there that early, so we had to wait in line for 15-20 minutes. It was cold, but Miles didn't seem to mind!

I think he was more interested in trying to eat the strap holding him in the seat than the actual ride, but I think riding was really more for my satisfaction than his!

Gram went with us to ride the Pink Pig. She looks good here, right before she came down with the plague. Ha!

Christmas Eve night we went to Katherine and Will's as we usually do. We had dinner and then opened our presents. Miles sat with Grandma while we opened presents. He got a new carseat because he outgrew his infant seat already!

He's got good kissin' cheeks.

Cousin picture...best that we could get! A good representation of where we are in our lives right now.

Miles had his first visit from Santa! He got a Rocktivity Center that has different instruments he can "play," a treasure box with coins (which kind of sucks! quite disappointed in this toy, and a dino ball popper. He seems to be most interested in the ball popper,  as is Cleo. She likes to steal the balls from it.

Crazy hotdogs.

Playing with the Rocktivity center. I think he will play with this one a little more as he gets bigger and more mobile.

Cleo loves to get his face!

Funny little guy!

Mawmaw and Jim came over for breakfast. Mawmaw has on her new monogrammed jacket we got her.

We had a great Christmas and really enjoyed getting to spend time with everyone!

Miles is 7 months old!

Miles, you are 7 months old!

You have become an active little boy in the last month! No more sitting sweetly for pictures. Now you try to eat the monkey!

You had just gotten up when we took your pictures this morning, so your cheek is a little red.

You talk a lot! You say /d/ and /m/ and th.

We had to go to Dr Roe for the first time this month other than a well-baby visit because you had a few rough nights. We thought you might have an ear infection, but Dr Roe said you were just fine! You just had a stuffy nose. We elevated your bed and got a nosefrida and you started to sleep again. We also discovered that the diaper rash you had was actually yeast, so we are working on getting rid of that and in the meantime using disposable diapers.

I don't have your stats this month, but I would guess you are 20-21 pounds. Growing boy!

You are very curious about everything. You love tags. You've also started throwing everything in the floor so that we can pick it back up for you.

You smile and laugh a lot more now, too.

You go to bed between 8 and 9 and sleep until around 7.

You also started eating food this month. So far you eat sweet potatoes, avocado, bananas, green beans, and carrots. Carrots are by far your favorite! You had 2 servings of carrots today. We are making your food and it is so easy.

You also sit up really well now! You lose your balance when you try to reach for something, but otherwise you are pretty good.

You had your first Christmas this month! I'll do another post about that, but you had lots of fun opening your presents.

Carrots...yummy!

Cutie pie!

You are such a cute, sweet boy! I can't believe you are already 7 months old.

We love you, Miles!

Big Week of Firsts!

We have had a big week of firsts around here! Miles started eating food for the first time. His first food was sweet potatoes and he loved them! Ate the whole bowl I made for him. He thinks eating is fun and funny, laughing the whole time.

He spit a little out at first, but not much at all. I think maybe because he is just over 6 months.

I gave him sweet potatoes for the first few days. Since then, he has also added avocado and banana to his list of foods he eats. He is a big eater!

He tried his best to grab the spoon and make a mess!

He squeals every time he sees the spoon coming toward him.

The sweet potatoes gave him some tummy troubles the first couple of days, but I think we are over that now.

We also tried to start giving him water in a sippy cup. He's still not too sure about that.

He enjoys making a mess with the water and teething on the cup more than anything.

He also sat in a high chair in a restaurant twice this weekend. Once at Chick-a-Biddy and once at Community Q. He's not sitting unsupported quite yet, so we jammed a blanket behind him and he was good. I think he enjoys being able to see what's going on around him.

We also took him to Waumba Land at church for the first time. I had him all dressed up in his cute Santa outfit, but of course he had a poop blowout, which required an outfit change.  The blowout happened because we had to use disposables for a few days because of a diaper rash and disposables don't contain things like the cloth. At least I remembered a change of clothes!

Unfortunately, I think he also picked up his first case of a stuffy nose from Waumba Land, too! We have had a rough week of sleeping (or not sleeping) around here. He's doing much better today, though!

Miles is growing up on us!

Halloween catch up!

I'm a bit late in posting these, but better late than never! Miles had a great first Halloween!
The weather was cool but not cold, so we took advantage of the nice weather and sat outside in the driveway. We had several friends and family over, including Mawmaw and Jim, Kala, Hillary, Hannah, and Grandma Debbie! We had a little party with some appetizers and desserts and enjoyed the neighborhood festivities.

Miles was the best little spider!

Miles stayed in his costume all night and let everyone pass him around.

Miles with his neighbor baby friend Eloise.

Such a cute spider!
